Visaton ATLAS COMPACT MK V speaker kit pair

The 5th generation of the VISATON classic ATLAS COMPACT is based on the beginnings of this series in the mid and high tone range.
The DSM 25 FFL - 8 Ohm and DSM 50 FFL - 8 Ohm are again used here.
The low-medium-tone range is taken over by the AL 170 - 8 ohm.
New in this version is the TIW 300 - 8 Ohm as a tweeter.

The frequency switch has also been thoroughly revised.
The separation frequency of the tweeter to the mid-range tweeter was applied to 220 Hz.
This relatively low separation frequency gives a strong bass reproduction in the range between 50 and 100 Hz.
However, this is associated with a reduction in the impedance in this frequency range.
Compensation of the impedance increase of the woofer (KN 27 mH, 330 μF) avoids this low impedance curve, but also reduces the bass level at 80 Hz by about 3 dB (red curve below 100 Hz).
This can be very advantageous in some rooms that build too much bass level due to resonances.
If you want more levels and can accept a drop in the rated impedance at 80 Hz to 4 ohms, you simply do not need the impedance compensation and get the upper frequency curve.
The ATLAS COMPACT MK V thus offers the great advantage of adapting the bass level to the auditorium easily.
The wide chamfers in the upper area of the sound wall make the housing appear slimmer and avoid edge reflections in the sensitive middle and high tone range.
The ATLAS COMPACT MK V is a very dynamic box with strong bass, but without applying too thick in the bass area.
Neutrality in the voice range and clear heights without any sharpness are further features.
